• THE 1860s PRIME STEAM EXPRESS
  ★ The first 2-6-2 (represents the wheel arrangement) tender locomotives for a North American customer were built by Brooks Locomotive Works in 1900 for the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad, for use on the Midwestern prairies. The type was thus nicknamed the Prairie in North American practice.
  ★ The Reuben Wells is a helper locomotive that was built in 1868. It was designed to push train cars. Weighing 50 tons, it was the most powerful locomotive in the world at the time.
  
  
   
• THE 1910s GRAND PRIX CAR
  ★ The 1910 American Grand Prize was a Grand Prix auto race held on closed public roads outside Savannah, Georgia on November 12, 1910. It was the second edition of the Automobile Club of America's American Grand Prize. The race was won by American David Bruce-Brown in a Benz.
  ★ The model 32 MARMON Wasp, driven by Marmon engineer Ray Harroun was the winner of the first ever Indianapolis 500 motor race, in 1911. This car featured the world's first known automobile rear-view mirror.
  
  
   
• THE 1940s ARMY JEEP
  After the WWI the US wanted to mechanize its cavalry army role. The Answer? The Jeep! The Jeep story began in November 1940 in the early days of the WWII with the legendary go-devil engine, developed by the American automotive engineer Delmar Bonnie Roos. After the war Gen. Dwight Eisenhower is said to have stated that 1 of the 3 things that have won the war for the Allies was the Jeep.
